    Notes:

    • (*) in order to use more than 3 fcd ProPlus, you must update the firmware on all funcubedongles to the newer 48 or 96 kHz version.
We recommend using the 48 kHz version for all deployments.  There is a new page on the SG web interface for updating the firmware
of attached funcubedongle Pro Plus.  (The oiriginal funcubedongle Pro continues to use its original 96 kHz firmware.)

Old: Here are power consumption figures for various configurations of the new Beaglebone Black using the 2014 software release (with Debian 7.0 armhf Linux) of the SensorGnome software.  Figures with the older software on the original Beaglebone White are available here.

Current was measured using a CircuitTest PSC-336 power supply set to 12.5 Volts DC, attached to the SensorGnome's DC voltage converter.  For funcubedongles (fcd), processing was done at 48000 Hz, and each antenna was being monitored for pulses from Lotek nanotags within a +/- 24 kHz range while a tag emulator broadcasted a medley of four tags.  For the audio configuration, raw audio was simply recorded unprocessed to the internal 32 GB micro SD card.

    Beaglebone Black + USB Hub + PPS-GPS + 1 fcd Pro (old fcd) 0.31 3.88 7.44

    Beaglebone Black + USB Hub + PPS-GPS + 3 x fcd ProPlus + 1 x fcd Pro
Note: this combination does not work.  A BBB can only handle up to 3 x fcd ProPlus and no additional receivers.  It might be able to handle 2 x fcd ProPlus and 2 x fcd Pro, but this has not been tested.
